Connect actual OpenAI Codex

The Windows companion uses the Codex CLI already installed and signed in on your PC. Your OpenAI credentials stay in Codex. Your plan’s usage limits apply. This connection is local to the browser’s PC; it does not connect a phone to your PC remotely.

  1. Install Node.js and Codex if missing. Sign in to Codex using your ChatGPT account.
  2. Download the companion ZIP and extract it. Keep both files together.
  3. Open PowerShell in the extracted folder and run:
    powershell.exe -NoProfile -STA -File .\Start-SpineAI-Codex-Companion.ps1
If Windows blocks the script, review the downloaded files and use Windows file Properties → Unblock where applicable; do not disable system security policies.
  4. In SpineAI choose Codex from the sidebar switch. Paste the pairing code from the companion window and click Connect Codex. Allow local-network access if your browser asks.

Projects

Connecting creates a Default project automatically under Documents\SpineAI Shared Projects\account-…\…. New project creates another named project with its own folder. Folder IDs keep names collision-free. The full local path appears under the selector. Existing folders and files are preserved.

Write your task in the normal message box. Activity & file changes shows progress. Explicit Codex approval requests appear in the workspace; review them before approving. Unsupported approval/input flows must be completed in the Codex desktop app. Closing the companion stops its processes; completed file changes remain.

This first version accepts text and text attachments. Attachments are reference text, not automatic disk imports. Images, live app previews and arbitrary existing-folder selection are not yet connected to Codex mode. To use existing source, copy it into the displayed project folder before sending your task. No automatic sync is performed.
